ABTC (American Board for Transplant Certification)

 

ABTC is an independent, not-for-profit organization whose purpose is to award a voluntary, non-governmental certification credential, "Certified Clinical Transplant Coordinator (CCTC)"; "Certified Procurement Transplant Coordinator (CPTC)," or "Certified Clinical Transplant Nurse (CCTN)" to qualified transplant coordinators or transplant nurses who have successfully passed the certification examination, which represents a standard of competence.

American Heart Association


Callers are routed to a local American Heart Association office and obtain information about heart disease and the type of support services available in their local area. Also, callers can receive free brochures on cardiovascular disease. 

American Kidney Fund

Nonprofit health organization that provides that grants to needy dialysis patient, transplant recipients and donors to help cover the cost of health related expenses, transportation, medications and more.

American Liver Foundation

Voluntary agency dedicated to fighting liver disease through research, education and patient self help groups. provides fund raising information and will act as trustee for monies raised.

Children's Organ Transplant Association (COTA)

National, nonprofit agency helps any United States citizen organized local community fund raising for the individual/family in order to assist with transplants and related expenses.

Families With Food Allergies (FWFA)

Helping the community gain access to the latest medical research and resources while providing opportunities for families to bond with other families that are learning how to better handle the day-to-day concerns of a severe food allergy.

ITNS International

The International Transplant Nurses Society (ITNS) is a worldwide professional nursing organization that represents all areas of transplantation. ITNS supports clinicians in meeting the ongoing clinical changes and challenges that transplant nurses tackle daily.

ISHLT (International Society for Heart & Lung Transplantation)

The International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation was created in 1981 at a small gathering of about 15 cardiologists and cardiac surgeons. Today we have over 2500 members from over 45 countries, representing over 14 different disciplines involved in the management and treatment of end-state heart and lung disease.

Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International

Nonprofit health organization supporting diabetes research. Provides information and brochures on diabetes. Membership available.  Includes their quarterly magazine "Countdown", which features a children's section, "Countdown For Kids", in each issue.

Kidney Foundation of Ohio

The Kidney Foundation of Ohio is established to provide a broad program of assistance to persons with kidney disease and their families; to promote and fund research for the study, prevention and treatment of kidney disease; and to promote and provide education programs for the general public, renal professionals and patients and their families.

LifeBanc

LifeBanc is the non-profit organ procurement and tissue recovery agency for Northeast Ohio. As one of the original seven independent organ procurement organizations in the United States, LifeBanc serves a population of 4.3 million people and works with 80 hospitals in 20 counties.

NATCO (The Organization for Transplant Professionals)

NATCO, The Organization for Transplant Professionals is committed to the advancement of organ and tissue donation and transplantation. The NATCO membership is comprised of a diverse group of professionals. Procurement practitioners manage the care of the donor to ensure organ viability, consult with families in their donation decision, arrange for the surgical recovery of organs and match donor organs with recipients.

National Minority Organ Tissue Transplant Education Program (MOTTEP)

MOTTEP is dedicated to increasing minority donor awareness through community outreach and education. The goal is to decrease the number in rate of ethnic minorities needing organ and tissue transplant, increased family discussion and eventually increase the number of minorities who sign organ donor cards.

National Foundation for Transplant

Assists candidates and recipients they should widen updating transplants and aftercare, as well as, providing essential support and referral services. Provides clients with fundraising expertise and materials in assures that funds raised are properly disbursed.

National Kidney Foundation

The national kidney foundation is dedicated to preventing kidney and urinary tract diseases , improving the health of individuals and families affected by these diseases and increasing availability of organs for transplantation.

National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD)

This organization serves as a clearinghouse for information for over 5000 rare disorder. The information is with clearly for the lay person. NORD can also connect patients will have the same or similar illnesses with each other.

National Transplant Assistance Fund

Private, nonprofit, charitable group dedicated to offering assistance and wonder raising related to transplant medical costs of pre- and post- transplant patients and their families.

OSOTC (Ohio Solid Organ Transplantation Consortium)

The primary purpose of the Ohio Solid Organ Transplantation Consortium is to ensure equitable access to quality medical care for those most likely to benefit from extra-renal transplantation, regardless of ability to pay.

Second Wind Lung Transplant Association

Second Wind is an international organization founded in early 1995 by a dedicated, of lung transplant recipients, candidates, and their families. The short term goals were to initiate quarterly support group meetings in various regions.

United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS)

UNOS' mission is to advance organ availability and transplantation by uniting and supporting its communities for the benefit of patients through education technology and policy development. Through the UNOS Organ Center organ donors or matched to waiting recipients towards four hours a day 365 days a year.
